No one respects rock anymore really. I mean, we see so many radio stations for pop culture, but not rock. There is not much of the good old tunes played to the young when you listen to NRKP3. I like listening to NRK P1, because I am getting a bit old, my tastes have changed and also, I like listening to the history of Norway and it's history.
Although, many think I am strange. I had first fell in love with Norway when I was 13. Your flag is a bit like the British Flag, a lot more simplified. However, during those geography lessons, it was the different terrain that appealed to me. I smile every time I see your beautiful mountains because they are not green in colour, they are blue at a distance. A blue, tint with a very rosy sky most nights during the summer and autumn months. Where I lived, we did not have such beauty.
I came across the black metal, when I was in my late 20's and you could say this was a little too late. I do not think so, it took a while for me to want to pursue my dream of being here. To pluck up the courage and learn the language. So, begging my pardon, but when I read articles about someone missing their past and missing their friends because of the festival times they had..... it makes me think like saying you are never too old to have fun. Never!!!
Also, if you have a museum for all your old music - then it will be easier to be closer to people like Grant Hart. He was not that old really. I mean, of course I do not feel like I can relate to the really young music because the music is different. However, I am talking about pop. The content in Pop music is a bit too overly sexual for my ears and I am the type of lasy who can be liberal minded, however, I am getting to the point where I have my limitations. Shocked you put this stuff on the radio because when I listened to NRKP3, I was dismayed at the overly sexual rap you had on there. It was as though you thought people were not listening or did not care, or do not speak English.
I would rather a Norwegian young person would not use curse words or overly sexual words in English, it makes them sound a little stupid, to be honest with you. This is something I would tell parents, because love comes when you set those boundaries of protection and you stop your children from looking dumb or the expression English people use is: "Thicker than Lard!" Lard being the grease you use to fry bacon. It is the expression similar to what you have, except, I have only been here a short while and I forget so easily.
I kind of glad the journalist mentioned that there is a skill or genre to all these different types of metal:
"Selvfølgelig er det ikke helt sant, det her. Rocken lever i smågenrene, i ytterkantene, i subkulturer som fortsatt finner kraft og kreativitet i rock. Rock blander seg med andre genre, med hip hop, techno og electronica. Det er mange strålende band i Norge som fortsatt har rock i seg, Bendik, Motorpsycho, Razika, Silja Sol og Kvelertak."
Maybe, the journalist's and DJ's should look into rock, punk and metal a little more? I mean sure, Bedik, Motorpsycho, Razika, Silja sol and Kvelertak are only a handful of what you know, but there are some amazing Norwegian bands - I am bragging because I love the music. If you want to inspire young people, perhaps play it on the radio more but a little less than that sexually perverse music you have..... (I cannot help it! Hip hop is not the same. Body count does more than just rap! They do it in the metal style.)
You cannot stop me from loving your best like Dimmu Borgir, taakke and just give me some more of Order!!!! Oh and Emperor, the main headlin for next year's Inferno Festival. I was expecting more of these guys to be played on the radio and for some types of discussions involving their position in the world. As these bands have made an impact. I was expecting them to be your stars, as well as the other pop sensations you have. Norway, seems to be investing a lot on culture, but, not influencing the young with that type of culture that will mean they are sort of not seen as sexual objects or objectifying people in a manner which is as thick as lard. I do sit there and wonder why. I also feel as though when someone writes an article they could actually make sure they have every single genre, or acknowledge that Norway has influenced the world with Black Metal at least.
Goodness me!
